Summer Flow League Teams

Team One: STAY CLASSY

  • Brandon Stevens grew up on the central coast in Arroyo Grande and enjoys hiking, flowboarding, cliff jumping, Bmx riding and jumping off of high things. He holds the title as 2009 ALT Games champion and took second this past May. In sum, he’s unathletic, lazy and likes pink speedos and glitter.
  • Peter Mehroff - coming soon
  • Nate Church has been with Wave Loch for nearly two years as the Materials Manager. He is originally from Ohio (Go Buckeyes!), loves motorcycles and soaking in the sun. His easy going, fun loving exterior hides his masterful marshall art skills, including a 3rd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and a 2nd degree black belt in Ju Jitsu. He lives in San Diego with his wife and says that the intention of the Flow Mob name was to “intimidate competition and look good doing it...just like the mob.” That being said, they will only accept the 1st place position come league end, or else consider the entire season a failure.
  • Brian Thomas was not available for comment but his hair looks the same wet as it does dry and he’s had some of the most epic bails BMax has ever known.

Team Two: FLOW FISH

  • Eric Silverman just got his license. Thank goodness he’s in the first division of Flow League because the second surely runs past his bedtime. He’s pretty mediocre on the wave and should probably practice more often.
  • Bob Puetz level two rider for the Flow Fish, is a team vet dating back to the days when the Flow Fish had Neubie. He enjoys riding with celebrities and civilians alike, likes his Strawberry Fields Forever Salad sans strawberries and is more likely to eat tofurky than bacon. He forces his employees to ride the wave, never heeds his 45 second time limit, saves distressed seagulls with lightning speed and is now known as Wave Hog Bob
  • Andrew Paolini likes to party. He also likes Tacos Dorados after which he says, “nom nom nom.”
  • Rob Ziemer is perhaps the most concentrated member of the Flow Fish, determination in his eyes each time he sets board on the wave. He has a borderline unhealthy love of the color orange and works pretty much all the time...minus three 45 second stints each Thursday. Take a vacation Rob.

Team Three: TACO SURF

  • Amy Luis enjoys long walks on the beach during sunset, puppies, soft music, sitting on the couch with a good book and some nice tea, snuggies and singing in the shower. She is also the first person EVER to rock spike heels on the wave.
  • Laurie Pindel is a registered nurse who loves to snowboard and surf. She oft times off roads in her Rubicon, cannot sing and has two cats named Joey and Cali. She lives in Pacific Beach and loves to wear heels.
  • Crystal Paslawsky is a surf instructor for Pacific Surf Schools and also shreds the snow from time to time. She’s studying to become a personal trainer and could not possibly love Justin Bieber more.
  • Amanda Denton is proud to have recently graduated from Amy and Brandon's groupie to actual flowboarder status. She is proud to be representing the Pink Tacos as a 4b! She’s into anything on or in the water ranging from surfing and cruising sailboats, to scuba diving and catching rides on large aquatic animals. She also enjoys hiking and backpacking, luchadors de la noche, extreme karaoking and of course, traveling.

Team Four: RIDE ON

  • Todd Gabele - The only thing Todd cares to share on facebook is the Likes and Interests section. In this, he "Likes" SherriDoesHotHair.com and Román Salon. Are you a hairdresser Todd? No wonder your hair always looks perfectly tossled.
  • Tim Roy likes house music (he went to Electro Daisy Carnival this year) and is from San Diego. That's all we know about Tim.
  • Nicole Fletcher  is the resident "flow-tog" for Wave House San Diego. She's new to riding the wave, falls frequently, has adopted the nickname "Fanta" and is waiting to be good enough to wear a trucker hat on the wave like Ryan Rosas.
  • Lisa Sym is from Connecticut and graduated from U Mass in 2008. She got cold soon thereafter and moved to sunny San Diego a year and a half ago. She started working for Wave Loch in February, which is how she became an Avenger, and she’s holds it down daily as the only lady in the Loch office. She loves traveling, the Yankees and kart-wheeling. She just got back from Malaysia and reportedly can do a headstand on the wave. She leaves us with,“If first pumping is wrong, I don’t wanna be right”.

Team Five: SUPERBAD

  • Morgan Just  is an insane skim boarder, is single and was born in October. He shreds as a number one flowrider and took the title as World Champ skimboarder in a recent competition.
  • Don Swadley owns his own lighting company and can therefore schedule as much wave riding time as he wants. He loves to wake and snowboard, but his true love, as his girlfriend of 7 years will attest, is his sand buggy. He builds and drives his own in the dunes of Glamis and Gordon’s and has been known to exceed speeds of 100mph. One little known fact Don doesn’t think strange is that he has lived on the SAME street for his entire life - yup - bought the house across the street from his mom in his early 20s and has lived there ever since.
  • Marci Puetz is an animal lover and wife of Wave Hog Bob. She enjoys nursing birds and other desert creatures back to health, avocados and bosu - but is not a fan of getting barreled. She plans to ride her way into the metaphoric BMax sunset this season by riding in and out of the barrel without getting her hair wet.

Team Six: THE WETTER, THE BETTER

  • Greg Lazarus was a sponsored skater from the ages of 9 to 12 and represented South Africa in a World Junior Surfing Championship in 1998. Good god that was a long time ago. He also claims to have a house in the ‘bush’ where you can hang with lions, elephants and cheetahs. He is sickly obsessed with his iphone 4, specifically an app called "Angry Birds."
  • Rusty Cyr - I found one Rusty Cyr on facebook and he currently lives in Maine. He graduated college in 1972 and is interested in Messalonskee Lake. Is this you Rusty Cyr? The world may never know.
  • Scotty Kaplan - is a fan favorite here at Wave House. From surfing to flowriding, this kid is heavy into board sports. Whether you're in the B&G or dancing your face off at Typhoon Saloon, Scotty will serve you a stiff one so don't get on this guy's bad side.
  • Robert Kokinda, known as Coco to everyone is from Derry, New Hampshire. I don't know why he goes by this chocolatey nickname but I'd like to. He is rather private on facebook so I'll leave it at that....Coco - a chocolatey man of mystery.
  • Krista Hill moved to San Diego from Boston in 2007 and started bar tending for Wave House 7 months later. She grew up waterskiing and downhill skiing for her high school and this year, learned to snowboard, wakeboard, surf and now flowboard! She likes to refer to 2010 as the 'year of the board'. Her friends from home have called her Kritter for as long as she can remember, but for the life of her, she has no idea why. She’s been working at Wave House for nearly three years and also doubles an Esthetician in Bay Park. She also has three cats which are oft times confused for small dogs.

Team Seven

  • Mikey Rijavec is a number one rider with style and flare to match is airs. When deciding who would be captain of his team, they merely said, “Give it to Mikey, he’ll eat anything”, referring to the fierce competition of the Flow League. And eat it he did. He is reportedly from his mother’s womb...but after that he went to SDSU for Civil Engineering. He leaves us with a quote, "A building is just a box with a bunch of **** in it."
  • Bruce Meagher is a San Diego local and has been riding the wave for 5 years. He loves to travel, build boards of all kinds and is an avid snow, wake, kite and flowboarder. He considers himself a family man, is easygoing and adventurous and has been known to shoot sub 80 on the golf course.
  • Matthew Barone is from Saco, Maine - it's no wonder he lives in San Diego now. He graduated from the Thorton Academy (high school) in 2004 and that's all his facebook cared to share.
  • Natalie Turenshine is a fan of Wave House San Diego, Vavi and Illustrious Culture on Facebook and isn't afraid to share it with everyone. Her birthday is in August, she's about to turn 23, has a passion for social media and her relationship status is "Complicated."

Team Eight: FLOW FELONS

  • Augie Gatto grew up as an innocent child, enjoying playing at the beach and going on adventures with his stuffed penguin animal, MuMu. At the age of 10, Augie began skimboarding and surfing. His passion for the sport grew into a lifelong obsession. However, at the age of 12, Augie was introduced to the surfing movie "Point Break." The excitement and thrill of watching Keanu Reeves and Gary Busey surfing the largest waves and robing the biggest banks drove Augie to a path of rebellion and crime. He found himself in and out of Juvenile Hall with petty crimes like taking candy from a baby and vandalism of public property. He later graduated to running an underground bikini trafficking ring and sexual harassment of marine life. The police finally apprehended Augustus Florencio Gatto on July 12, 2009, during an 8 day binge of streaking and drinking Tequila, while he was attempting to steal a tricycle at a local bike shop on Garnet Ave. He later escaped from the local jail and has been on the run ever since. A warrant and reward for his arrest has been issued by the authorities. He has been reported to have been seen at Wave House and joined a local gang called the Flow Felons. If you know of Augie's whereabouts, please contact the local authorities.
  • Vic Tenuto says, “You can call me Pablo, I am from a poor fishing village, on a remote island in the south pacific. I have no brothers and sisters, sadly to say we used them as bait, I am the oldest and that is customary in our village. I moved to San Diego after seeing Anchor Man on the light box we have on the center of the island. I have been here for just over a year now and never plan on moving back. I have been riding the B-Max for 20 years, just starting to ride strapped and switch. I have the most swagger out of any of the wannabe 2's in the league. My nickname is Vichead, I am attracted to blonds with fake tans and my favorite food are brunettes. I cant remember a time when I did not surf, I have just started to find my love for the water  again. I was in rehab with Tim Allen, Charlie Sheen and Eric Silverman for the last couple years, good guys.”
  • Jessica Gratz was born in Naperville, IL and grew up like any other girl, wanting to be a mad scientist and watching the teenage mutant ninja turtles. She moved out to the great island of California when she was 13 ... only to discover that without blonde hair she was virtually invisible (the first time she realized she had SUPER POWERSSSS!!!!) She currently attends San Diego State University as an interior design major. She wants to design movie sets and work for Disneyland's creation team. She spends her spare time collecting cans and bottles for money, stashing them in her Gypsy caravan. As her studio apartment acquires more and more useless nonsense, she is beginning to realize that her pack rat syndrome is not so much a syndrome, as it is just part of being a gypsy. She’s only been riding for a few months, but it has been the one thing that has kept her off the juice, clean and sober from Dr. Pepper for at least 1 week (AND GOING STRONG!) She isn’t a crazy cat lady YET, but she does have a cat who speaks 7 languages and can tap dance (She has a shirt with his picture on it; it says ‘Biggest Fan’). She loves art and to design logos and more for anyone in need. She even designed the logo for Eric Silverman's new pro model, the Senor Awesome Collection, and the monkey for the notorious Funky Town Monkey Riders.
  • Daniel Stevens enjoys silly little games and hippopotami with noodles on their backs. Yes you heard him, he likes when spaghetti is set atop the backs of more than one hippopotamus.
  • *Let it be known, The Flow Felons wrote their own novels.

Team Nine

  • Lindsay Landholm is one of our most shredtastic female riders. She takes the sport and her health seriously, stretching near the judges chairs before each league, and is proud to be the only consistent member of Team 9. Keep on keeping on Lindsay.

Team Ten: FLOWTARDS

  • Trevor Rynberg is proud to be a featured International Young Gun rider. At only 17 years old, he plays the drums for his school and his band, and is an avid surfer, skim boarder and snowboarder. His broke his leg last September skim boarding and had to take some time off for surgery and recovery. He’s back shredding now and was originally hired by Wave House as a Wave Desk Attendant.
  • Scott Novak, known as Scooter to some, the Banana Man to others, and ridiculous to all, started flowboarding a little over 2 years ago, cracking his ribcage on his first BMax session.  After taking a year off from the sport, he has returned triumphant as the Flowtards #2 rider and source of comic relief.  He can be found on your couch in the morning, his bike or skateboard during the day, and at night…well, who knows.  He aspires to be Calvin, from Calvin and Hobbes and will one day be a professional adventurer.  He is currently looking for a personal assistant who will work for wet willies.
  • Max Nodland has a website that is totally blank and only says his name at the top. Well done Max. He is from Seattle, WA and is 18 years old. He is a self proclaimed entrepreneur and enjoys all things extreme.
  • Jessica Brancaccio started college when she was 16 and is now starting her third year. She is going to be a teacher for either kindergarten,1st, 2nd or 3rd grade. She was on slime time live on nickelodeon as a kid and met the past President when she was 13. She’s been her boyfriend Max for 4 years now and loves pets. She has two cats named Babygirl and Oreo Tucker, a dog named KYSA and two fish named Finley and Bubbles. She has lived in many states but wound up back where she was born.. right here in San Diego. She’s completely terrified of the dark and she claims to have a, “TRUE” phobia of heights. Other then that.. she says she’s just another flower in the world.

Team Eleven

  • Heather Savant has yet to ride in the Flow League and therefore, no one knows anything about her.
  • Greg Blythe - there were too many Greg Blythes on facebook and therefore no information is available about this one at this time.
  • Ivy Chung - seriously how is this kid a number three...seriously how?
  • Shelby Myrman is by far the most adorable member of the Flow League. She out rides her competition consistently - including her dad - and is on her way to be the best female flowrider out there.
  • Aaron Savant also has yet to ride in the Flow League.

Team Twelve

  • Dan Dau makes a gorgeous girl and looks especially excellent when rocking a bikini top and pig tails. His feminine ensembles make him ride much better than a dirty mustachio.
  • Ryan Rosas is a third generation San Diego native, born in Chula Vista on January 25, 1989. He enjoys long walks on the meandering sidewalks of Wave House and candle lit dinners at the green tables by the spa. Fat Tires are his beverage of choice, preferably in the spas alongside BMax, and, just in case you were wondering, he does indeed eat his veggies five times a day. He just recently started riding strapped and is proud to own the title of World’s Strongest Man two years in a row (2006 and 2007). He also has vowed to give up cigarettes if Prop 19 passes this November.
  • Jahvin Bowman, known as BoX to his friends, has only been flowboarding for just over a month and bodyboarding for three. He loves to ride the best reefs in San Diego and travels through So Cal to find the best shore break.

Team Thirteen: THE FLOWTERS

  • Logan Tedford is, despite his sunny features, from Northern California. He's a dedicated lifeguard for Wave House but has yet to ride in Flow League. He must be too busy traveling with Kathryn. His favorite quote is, "Grab that net and catch that beautiful butterfly". Aren't 22 year olds cute?
  • Alika Herrera is a 23 year old Cancer from San Francisco. He likes short walks on the beach, margaritas and has recently discovered the Snuggies made out of towel material. He’s most proud of his tank top tan and aspires to be an emcee at Flow League before 2012.
  • Mitch Nodland has taken it upon himself to write his own bio:
His personality is so magnetic, he is unable to carry credit cards.
Chihuahuas have never barked at me, I am just that intimidating.
I take my salad dressing right on the salad, so there is no going back.
Even my enemy’s list me as there emergency contact.
I submitted an application to become a Navy Seal and found out I already was one.
My grade school teachers raised their hands to ask me questions.
When I ride the B-Max, I don’t get wet, the water gets him.
    I am, Mitch Nodland.
  • Bajz Tucker is from Pendelton, Oregon and his favorite quotation is, "who" (?).  No one really knows the proper way to pronounce his first name and subsequently, he has been awarded a nickname, "Tuck" (creative right?) Besides that, his profile says he graduated from Cornish College in 1997, from high school in 2010, works in real estate and has a child named Milana. Those dates don't make sense Bajz - we're confused.

Team Fourteen

  • Bryan Durland a New York native, woke up one Friday morning and decided to move to San Diego. He arrived the following Monday and has absolutely no plans to leave. He is currently a lifeguard at Wave House, both for the pool and the waves, and is a South Park fanatic. He is an avid reader, always with a new book in hand, and his favorite color is green.
  • Christopher Childers is in a public relationship with a lovely little lady named Kate Fraser. They've been dating since May 11, 2010 and we're proud to wish the two lovebirds an-almost 3 month anniversary! He's from Mission Beach, is into all things ocean, was born in the 90s and has very photogenic hair if I do say so myself.
  • Jonathan Redmond is a Wave House chameleon, filling any need he can from server to security guard. He enjoys shredding on BMax and quickly ascended from number four to number three rider. He is currently taking a year off after graduating college and is interested in law school in the future.
  • Bill Casey is a San Diego transplant, originally from Milwaukee, WI. He has a Wheaten Terrier named Rand and has lived in Pacific Beach for the past four years. He rode the wave a few times last fall and has just recently really gotten into it. He is proud to be the number four rider for Team 9 and looks forward to improving his wave riding skills in the future.

Team Fifteen: TEAM FOUR

  • Jon Akers drives mini cooper and only drinks Crown. His voice is often compared to Charlie on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (though no one in Flow League seems to have ever watched this show) and his best trick is a head stand on the lip of BMax. He is shockingly observant, enjoys speedos and his favorite super hero is, not surprisingly, the Hulk. He is sober every Flow League and is a bosu slave driver.
  • Johnny Leal is indeed from somewhere but no one seems to know where. He has been riding the wave since before God created the earth and he enjoys alcohol as his beverage of choice. He vehemently despises all of his teammates and does not enjoy color of any kind, shade or texture. When asked what his favorite food was, he merely said, “I don’t eat.”
  • Tyler Nichols, also known as Ty5cents (get it? Nichols?) is a boss on the wave and happens to be the king of the Wave House Athletic Club. He enjoys beer, chicks and chicks who drink beer. His boyish good looks distract all WHAC members, young and old, and he maintains his svelte appearance by drinking vodka sodas.
  • Chris Cox, in the words of a certain Flow League emcee, "is pretty much at the same riding level as he was when he started more than 4 years ago". You shoulda been a cowboy Chris...leave the flowboarding to the fish. In his spare time, he gives wet willies and wears cowboy boots. He is also obsessed with foursquare and strives to become the mayor of everything.
