Carbon's NightWave - A Total Success

Carbon presented their third NightWave Competition Series this past Saturday, August 28th at Wave House San Diego. Enhanced by vivid technicolor lighting, thundering action and a hypnotic mix of house rhythms, riders sent shimmers of thick barrel water bounding into bright beams of red, green and purple. Although NightWave has traditionally been a bodyboarding competition, Carbon Executive Director Brandon Walker added a series of flowboarding divisions to Saturday’s event that changed the dynamics and visual effects. This unparalleled atmosphere seamlessly fused the raw intensity that comes with shredding the FlowBarrel with the ideal nightlife vibe and venue. The scene was only further intensified by the crisp Pacific breeze made possible by Wave House San Diego's ocean front location. Spectators looked on in awe with chilled specialty beverages in hand as the ten foot FlowBarrel erupted in an explosion of light and sound.

Dane Hirata was the overall NightWave champ this weekend. He was the leader coming into the last event and he didn't disappoint, to say the least. Carbon Team rider Chris Childers won the evening's Expert Drop Knee division and Joelle Goforth took the top spot in the Women's open division. Carbon and Wave House team rider Eric Silverman won first place in the first ever Expert stand up category. Wave House San Diego would like to thank Carbon for putting on this unreal event and of course the riders who participated this weekend. Check out the video of this event.
